See You in the Aisles

Team Panic Button plans to storm the Summer Outdoor Retailer Trade Show next week, walking the red carpet on behalf of two new clients, HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation and Liberty Bottleworks.

We look forward to connecting with some of our favorite writers and editors at the Salt Palace, and hope to put our best foot forward at Montrail’s Wasatch Wobble on Thursday morning. (That might be tough—it’s an early gun after what’s sure to be a late night at the Industry Party.)

What events are you planning to attend at OR? Or more importantly – what are you wearing?

Need to get in the mood? Try a belly-laugh with Teva’s unlikely mascot, The Naturist.  (Over here, we’re big fans of Liz Ferrin, Teva, and laughter.)

Blending work with pleasure in Park City, and beyond…

It’s been a busy summer for the Panic Button crew. We ticked one half-marathon and are readying for another; we’ve gotten our asanas kicked in yoga immersion trainings; and we’ve stormed Park City’s mountain bike trails for rolling lunch meetings.

It’s not all playtime, though…we’ve also welcomed new clients, including HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation. HERA funds the detection, treatment, and prevention of ovarian cancer through popular events such as its annual Climb 4 Life.

We’re also excited to announce the opening of Panic Button Media’s Moab office. We love living in Park City (it’s hard not to when an after-work mountain bike ride is followed by a free concert at the Newpark Town Center or dinner at Shabu) but we’re excited to explore the desert, too, whether that means capturing cool video, sharing untold stories, or simply spending more time in Bluff with Hank and the DesignBuildBLUFF students.

What are your summer plans?

A Look We Love

With its classic lines and flattering cut, the Jackie O dress from Black Halo is #1 on our wish list–and we’re not alone! Celebrities are stocking up on Black Halo’s sophisticated styles, too. Scarlett Johansson wore the Jackie O to promote Iron Man 2, and Kelly Ripa, Lauren Conrad, Tyra Banks, and Jenny McCarthy have also claimed the frock as a fave. It comes in black, neutrals, or punchy summer shades, and–best of all–it’s available at  Mary Jane’s Boutique here in Park City & at the St. Louis store as well…

PUNK ICON JOHN DOE IS BACK

John Doe, legendary punk musician and founder of LA-based, "X," is the host of the new "John Doe, American Music."

John Doe, legendary punk musician (he founded LA-based “X” and went on to perform in the folk and country genres as well), recently turned heads in Boise, where he was filming a pilot for his new television show, “John Doe, American Music.”

The show visits a different region each episode, getting to the heart of what makes that area’s sound so unique–from zydeco to techno, tex-mex to blues.

What’s even better? Our friends at Wide Eye Productions in Boise came up with the idea - and are shopping it around as we speak.

Check out this preview, and we’ll keep you posted on which network or cable channel swoops up this authentic, groovy look at our musical roots.

Bowling and Bruschetta?

How about mixing a down home “sport” with a swanky environment?  That’s what you’ll find at Park City’s newest nightlife option, Jupiter Bowl.  Nestled in the growing community known as Newpark Resort at Park City’s Kimball Junction, Jupiter Bowl recently opened its doors to satisfied patrons.  Check it out 7 days a week for an impressive menu (devoid of cheap nachos:), cocktails and 7-10 splits.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Speaks in Park City

The Eccles Center was host to Robert Kennedy Jr. last week who spoke about the hazards and impact of mercury on global, national and local ecosystems ~ and individuals’ health.

The presentation was preceded by the documentary “The Cove: Mercury Rising,” which explores the hazards of mercury in fish.  Thank you to the Salt Lake Film Center & Park City Performing Arts Foundation for bringing in such a prolific speaker.  It’s highly likely that many of us in the audience will be getting the mercury levels checked in our blood. http://www.waterkeeper.org/ and http://www.thecovemovie.com/ for more on what you can do to protect yourself and our surroundings.

DesignBuildBLUFF Inspiration Reaches Texas

In 2007, John Wells began to dream of living off the grid in a sustainable living home in the Texas desert.  He said goodbye to his home in New York and purchased land in Texas with the goal of building an alternative energy home and laboratory.  Wells derived inspiration from a home built by DesignBuildBLUFF, a non-profit, student-powered organization that builds sustainable living homes for Native Americans. DBB is one of our favorite clients — and we love seeing how its good intentions and creativity positively influence and inspire so many. John Wells is a perfect example.

You can follow Wells’ progress on his blog  www.thefieldlab.blogspot.com
